Fashion & Interior Stylist | Writer | Creative Director of Rylan Studio
If you’ve ever found yourself in an Instagram trance, scrolling Brooke’s page for inspiration, you are not the only one. Her knack for bold but laid-back pieces, effortless-cool-girl aesthetic and strong business acumen are just some of the reasons she has amassed such a dedicated International following on both Instagram and her blog.
The Australian fashionista has a long list of talents and just recently added designer to her skill set. What followed was a delightfully unconventional lineup of simple, standout handbags, all crafted in Los Angeles.
You just recently launched your own line of handbag designs. How does Rylan Studio celebrate your personal style?
Yes, I did, let's just say it has been a rewarding whirlwind. Rylan is inspired from the past, hand-made for the woman of today. I wanted to create bags that I would have seen my Grandma wear, yet modernized. Every day I pair vintage items back with new, so I wanted the brand to embody just that.
Who or what are you inspired by at the moment?
I am actually not inspired by any particular person at the moment. I am more inspired by music, art and furniture design. I always feel in my element when Bill Withers is playing on my record player and the afternoon sun is beaming into my sunroom. The light always makes my wooden furniture pieces and my art light up magically.
What is your favorite thing about your hometown in Australia? How has growing up there shaped you?
I actually grew up in Brisbane, Queensland. I feel very lucky to have grown up in Brisbane. The people are so pure and real. Also very Aussie, the way I like it.
Do you have any advice to other women trying to make it in this world?
My advice would be to be persistent and stay true to your own sense of style. Success is not made overnight. Work hard and let your style/personality shine.
